The Chamber was originally formed in 1905 by a few local businessmen, in order to attract the University Farm School (now known as UC Davis) to this agricultural community. The “town-grown” relationship has been a strong and vital one ever since.
At the core of our city is a friendly, lively downtown business district. Residents and visitors alike enjoy the variety and quality of our shopping, dining and cultural pursuits. The university and the downtown are seamlessly joined and activities, events and people flow effortlessly between them.
Since its inception, the Davis Chamber of Commerce has had a commitment to the local community. Our Chamber is a vibrant business organization which reflects the vitality, education, community involvement, and quality of life characteristics of our locale. With over 700 members, it is an invaluable resource to individuals, organizations and businesses, offering opportunities for growth, education, professional seminars and networking. Davis businesses provide jobs close to residents’ homes and support nonprofit organizations and community campaigns when needed. Chamber leaders check in regularly with business owners to determine how to best serve their needs. The Chamber’s Government Relations Committee holds monthly meetings with representatives of the city to communicate about various issues. Monthly Chamber luncheons and mixers are opportunities to network with local business people.
