Business of the Year

This award is designed to recognize members of the business community who exemplify the qualities of excellence, service, innovation and creativity in business, industry, or the community.

The Objectives of the presentation of the this Business of the Year Award include the following:

• To recognize outstanding local businesses
• To improve and strengthen the relationship between the Chamber of Commerce and the business community
• To support economic development efforts
• To support membership recruitment and retention activities

Businesses that are eligible for this award include all businesses operating within the City of Davis. Businesses do not have to be Chamber members. The recipient of this award should meet the following criteria, which is judged by a panel of past chamber presidents and recipients:

Business Development

• Progressive, well-managed, successful business
• Creates and maintains a positive work environment for its employees
• Utilizes creative marketing strategies
• Implements innovative management techniques
• Makes the best use of available resources

Community Service

• Accesses and communicates with the community
• Responds uniquely and innovatively to community needs
• Matches community needs with business services
• Has been honored for community services
• Is affiliated with community organizations

Past recipients include Agraquest, Cunningham Engineering, Mortgage Resource Network, and Novo Nordisk.
