Partners for a Cleaner Davis

The City of Davis, in cooperation with the Davis Chamber of Comerce, initiated the Partners for a Cleaner Davis awards program to recognize efforts by local businesses to protect the environment. Ten businesses qualified for the recognition:

• AgraQuest, Inc.
• Calgene LLC
• Richard C. Kennedy, D.D.S.
• Ken's Bike and Ski
• Novo Nordisk Biotech
• Tripp K. Computer Consulting
• VanderHamm Tire
• Wheelworks Bicycles
• Yolo Transportation Management Association
• Z-World, Inc.

These businesses received free publicity through the Davis Chamber of Commerce, movie theaters, the City's website and the Davis Enterprise, while learning about methods to streamline their permitting processes. This year, the Partners Program plans to expand publicity for the awards program, provide networking and information exchange for the recognized Partners, and offer workshops on environmental regulations to the business community. As you can see from the above list, any type of local business can qualify for this program as long as you are employing environmentally friendly practices at your business, such as conserving water, recycling and using the least toxic products that will do the job. This program is not competitive and it is easy to be an award winner.
